Snow and Fur Mini-Session {with my own kids!}

It’s so incredibly rare I get to photograph my own kids. You know… Cobbler’s Son and all. And when I do, it often doesn’t go perfectly smoothly. You know… kids don’t always behave as well for their own parents as the photographer. But WOW! I’m so thrilled to have these photos of my own precious boys. I got a wild hair to do a fur themed snow-day mini-session right in our front yard. I got it all set up then brought the kids out, Micah first, then Hayden when he woke up from nap. They both lasted only a few  minutes, but shockingly, I got something! Yay!

I feel like they *might* be the last photos of Micah looking like he still has at least a trace of little boy in him. I hope I’m wrong, but six has gone by entirely too quickly.

That snaggle tooth grin… those eyes. swoon.
10 minutes max (maybe more like 6 minutes?) and Hayden was most definitely “ALLLLL DONE!”

The Birth of Baby Brynnlee {Alliance Hospital}

This little patriot was born on President’s Day, although I know her mama was ready on Valentine’s Day! I checked in with Dad around 1pm and he said mama was going to try and rest for a while and was at a 5 and would let me know if anything changed. An hour and a half later I started getting antsy and intuition told me I was leaving no matter what he said and would chill in the waiting room if I needed to, and right as I was getting in the car he texted and said she was just checked and at 10cm. The wise nurse Betty let mama labor down for another hour or so and at 5:02 it was pushing time. I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen someone smile so much during pushing. Kim is just a gorgeous lady and motherhood certainly looks good on her. Welcome to the world sweet Brynnlee! I can’t wait to shoot your newborn photos later this week!

Almaraz Family Lifestyle Portrait Session

I am currently photographing Year in the Life of number three with the Almaraz family! It all started back with Karsten’s Birth. Before Bennett was born they moved to San Antonio, so I was unable to photograph the births of Bennett and Stella, but I’m so glad they still bring me in to shoot 4 or so times of year… documenting this family for so long is one of my favorite things I get to do as a photographer! Stella’s 4 month chub is the BEST!

Bennett was enjoying the fact that he and Stella both enjoy sucking their thumbs and offered her his like a sweet brother!
She gladly accepted, much to his delight.

Christmas Session with Snow in Bed!

I’ve been working with this family for many years and always appreciate so much the thought Jeni puts into styling each of their shoots. She is a talented artist in her own right (trained as an interior designer, but an amazing seamstress, quilter, and crafter). We chatted through a Christmas pajamas session and joked about fake snow. Then, she started texting me ideas about how she might style their bed and fabric selections for the pajams she would sew for the kids, we also we looked at circular beds I was in love. You might not see how all the usual clutter you might find on night stands was just pushed to the back wall. They moved their tv armoire so I’d have plenty of room to back up and shoot at the foot of the bed. These little preparations she made is truly what made my job easy and allowed me to help create and capture some magical images I hope these kiddos look back fondly on when they aren’t little anymore!

Here is the final custom-designed Christmas card!

*and yes, we REALLY threw a BUNCH of fake snow in their master bedroom. Nothing a shop-vacc couldn’t handle. Seriously. It was magical.
